Type Six: The Loyalist

Type 6s are responsible, loyal, and oriented towards security. They are cautious and often look for guidance or reassurance to navigate potential risks.

They value stability and trust in their relationships and communities, often being the reliable, committed ones in groups. Though they can be anxious and doubting, they are also deeply loyal and will stand by those they trust.

You might be an Enneagram Six if...

  • You often think about potential problems and how to prepare for them.
  • You seek reassurance and approval from trusted sources before making decisions.
  • You are loyal to people, ideas, or institutions that you believe in.
  • You value security and can become anxious when things feel uncertain.
  • You are aware of worst-case scenarios and often plan for them.

Some Common Behaviors of Enneagram Sixes

  • Double-checking plans or decisions to ensure everything is secure.
  • Seeking advice or confirmation from others before acting.
  • Forming strong bonds with groups or communities that offer support.
  • Being cautious or hesitant to take risks without thorough analysis.
  • Frequently considering "what if" scenarios to prepare for challenges.

Understanding the Chart

In the Enneagram, stress and growth integration lines show how each type behaves under different conditions. Under stress, a type disintegrates, adopting the negative traits of another type. In growth, a type integrates, adopting the positive traits of another type.

Enneagram Six in Growth & Stress

Growth (Integration): Moves to Type 9, becoming more relaxed, trusting, and accepting of life’s uncertainties, letting go of constant vigilance.

Stress (Disintegration): Moves to Type 3, becoming more competitive, image-conscious, and driven to prove themselves.

Enneagram Six Wings

Wings: 6w5 (more analytical, introverted, and focused on security) or 6w7 (more sociable, outgoing, and focused on finding enjoyment).
